Upon reading about the approval of a $100 million project for the Gloucester County Courthouse recently, I got up, ran to the bathroom and puked my guts out.

Here we are, with people losing jobs, businesses closing dorrs and taxpayers stretched to the limits, and our incompetent and insensitive county officials make this outrageous announcement. This is a blatant example of a county government without checks and balances, taking advantage of complacent voters to make a comfortable and unnecessary work setting for itself, not knowing the depth of the upcoming recession or depression. What we are facing economically is big and potentially toxic to residents of Gloucester County.

We have a county jail that is overcrowded that has been known to spread disease and sickness. More residents of the county will be driven to crime just to feed themselves and their families because they will likely lose their jobs and our elected officials decide to mash their heels to our spines with this outrageous expenditure. Their timing could not have been worse.

There are and will be enough available vacant buildings in Woodbury and throughout the county to house courthouse staff and hearing rooms. Soon businesses like car dealers will be closing their doors in record numbers and we can remodel those to fit the needs of our county court, and save a bundle of taxpayers' money. We can expand our county jail system, increase our police force and put money aside for the upcoming potential need for county soup kitchens for the financially desperate

I believe that our elected officials will line their pockets with kickbacks and illegal gifts. They are standing in line to pick our bones. We need watchdos to follow the money and we will hopefully prosecute the crooks among them. And there will be crooks. There always are.

What do you think of Paris Hilton as ambassador to Russia? What about Michael Jackson serving as the Secretary of Health, Education and Welfare? Or, what about Judge Judy being appointed to the Supreme Court?

I know this all sounds ridiculous, but this nation has become not only desperate financially, but a real laughing stock politically.

Caroline Kennedy recently came out of the woodwork and announced that she would like to serve as the replacement for Hillary Clinton. She doesn't even have to get elected. She just has to be appointed by the governor of New York. This is a genuine travesty, and an insult to working people not just in New York but throughout the nation. She has never proven to be a public person or shown leadership skills to the working class Americans. She has no idea regarding the challenges and fears that we face, not that Ms. Clinton knew these.

Caroline Kennedy is a silver spoon brat of a former president and a famous debutante. Despite being educated in the Ivy League and becoming an attorney, she never rubbed elbows with the voting masses. Yet she wants a voice in the Senate. Why, because she is a Kennedy. Being a Kennedy is not an accomplishment. It is simply a birthright similar to the royalty of Europe two hundred years ago.

If Caroline Kennedy becomes a US Senator, then voters are simply being played as stupid by our elected politicians. It is a real shame and a joke. Perhaps Jerry Springer will run for president in the future? At least he has political experience as mayor of Cincinnati and developed a popular television show, despite having highly questionable content.

Incidentally, don't we have enough Kennedy, Bushes and Clintons in public office?
